If you are hoping to use the Fox Sports app toOn Roku this weekend, you may need to start making other plans. On Thursday night, Roku sent an email to customers informing them that starting tomorrow, January 31, it will remove the Fox app from its platform.
"As of January 31, 2020, all independent Fox channels will no longer be available on Roku streaming devices," the company wrote in the note. While not specifically mentioning the Super Bowl, Roku continues to recommend that customers interested in watching Fox shows be considered using Fubo, YouTube TV, Hulu apps with Live TV apps or Sling TV, even mentioned that many users try it for free.
Those with a Roku TV, as opposed to a streaming bar or box, should consider having an antenna that allows them to watch Fox broadcasts for free over wireless networks.
The problem appears to be a distribution agreement between Fox and Roku to bring broadcasters' applications on Roku's platform.
